Amer Ahmed Ali Ismail Shehata is an Associate Professor of Petroleum Geology at Geology Department, Faculty of Science, Port Said University, Egypt. He serves as a coordinator of internation ranking team at Port Said University. He is a former Fulbright Research Scholar at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi (USA) and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo (Japan). He serves on the National Committee of Earth Science and coordinates the international ranking for Port Said University. He applies integrated (seismic, sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, petrophysics, machine learning) approaches to investigate the subsurface geology, sequence stratigraphy, structural framework and reservoir properties, architecture, quality and characterization and their prediction. His research integrates seismic interpretation, sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, petrophysics, and machine learning to characterize reservoir architecture and predict hydrocarbon potential in carbonate and siliciclastic systems.
He completed his B.Sc. at Suez Canal University (2009) and his M.Sc. at Port Said University (2014), before earning a joint Ph.D. from Chiba University, Japan and Port Said University in 2019. His international experience includes a Fulbright Research Scholarship at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi in 2022 and a Visiting Researcher at the University of Tokyo in 2023.
Dr. Shehata has led and participated in several funded research projects, including a recent STDF-supported project focused on applying machine learning techniques to reservoir evaluation. He currently serves as an Editor for Frontiers in Earth Science and as an Associate Editor for the Alfarama Journal of Basic & Applied Sciences, in addition to reviewer for numerous international journals. In recognition of his research contributions, he has received multiple awards from Port Said University, as well as international grants supporting interdisciplinary research. His teaching experience includes undergraduate and postgraduate courses in petroleum geology, seismic stratigraphy, and subsurface interpretation, and he actively supervises MSc and PhD students.
