Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Microbiology
Dr. Ahmed Abdelaziz is an Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Microbiology in the Department of Botany and Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Port Said University. His research focuses on molecular microbiology, functional genomics, and RNA biology, with a particular emphasis on elucidating the regulatory roles of RNA-binding proteins in the cell cycle of Schizosaccharomyces pombe.
Dr. Abdelaziz has over fifteen years of academic experience in microbiology and molecular genetics, spanning teaching, research, and mentorship across several institutions, including the University of Calgary, Université de Montréal, Suez Canal University, and Port Said University. His multidisciplinary research encompasses microbial bioremediation, algal biofuel production, the antimicrobial and anticancer properties of natural products, and the biomedical applications of bio-nanoparticles.
He has supervised and mentored numerous undergraduate and graduate students and authored multiple peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Abdelaziz’s work integrates molecular biology, microbiology, and biotechnology to address critical challenges in health, energy, and environmental sustainability.
